Freshwater Hub – Construction update

Freshwater Hub is coming to Griffin with planning approval and construction plans for the shopping village and roads currently out to tender.

Freshwater Hub - Construction Update

The tender process is seeking competitive quoting for both the Village and the road infrastructure with works on both set to commence in 2023.

The new upgrade to Brays Road, including a new intersection plus a brand-new Freshwater Hub internal road called Arcadia Drive will be built by the Developer Wattle Run.

Dr Jennifer Fisher, Director, Wattle Run said the upgrade to Brays Road will ensure a healthy and safe environment for Griffin locals.

“Arcadia Drive will join Brays Road to Wesley Road improving the flow of traffic in the area, particularly for the local school Griffin State School.

“The name Arcadia was chosen because of its meaning – a place offering peace and simplicity in harmony with nature – which is also the goal of the development, to offer residents and locals country charm with city convenience.

“We are hoping construction can begin early next year, weather permitting. “We’re in a good position with it all – the road concept designs are complete with the detailed designs for operational works about to be submitted to council for approval.

“Wattle Run has worked closely with the Moreton Bay Council to ensure we get it right and it makes a difference for the locals,” she said.

The process to construct both the Village and the roads would likely take 18 months – 2 years from awarding the contract.

“It will be worth the wait with Freshwater hub providing locals with an urban farm, vast parkland, family-friendly cafes, restaurants, groceries, specialty shops, medical and fitness services.

“It’s about creating an easy lifestyle for locals, somewhere they will visit time and time again in an environment they relax and enjoy,” Dr Fisher said.

Dr Fisher said the tender documents went out via a selective process, last week and the builder will be nominated when the tenders have been analysed and interviews completed.

“Once this is complete, the project will be awarded and the successful applicant/s will be announced.”
